Tara is a strong proponent of education and learning. She attended Fleming College for GeoTech Engineering, received her GIS degree from Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and has a Certificate of Technical Writing & Communications from Mount Royal University.

Tara shares her experiences with the Geospatial Information Technology Association, the Alberta Geomatics Group and GeoAlberta having presented in Tampa Bay, Denver, Houston, Calgary and Edmonton. She also gives back to her alumni by teaching an intermediate GIS course to oil & gas exploration students.

Tara plays as hard as she works. Her adventures include parachuting the Ottawa Valley, camel riding in the Sahara desert, cable riding in the Costa Rican jungle, winter camping in the Canadian Rockies, mountaineering in the Adirondacks, and navigating the white waters of The Rouge, The Ottawa and The Kicking Horse. Most recently she summited Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
